Car Rental Kuala Lumpur - Exploring Kuala Lumpur
By car, for a bit of refreshing peace and quiet, head to the city 'green belt' parkland 1km west of the central city. Tasik Perdana - the Premier Lake - is where locals and visitors spend their time relaxing or enjoying the paddle boats. There is also a Bird Park - a huge walk-in an aviary housing around 160 species from throughout South-East Asia.
Apart from the city Green Belt and its surrounding areas, the city offers little in the way of popular attractions. Local guides provide details of places to visit and activities ranging from bird watching, bush-walking and swimming.
The huge Batu Caves are among KL's best known tourist attractions, and located just 20 minutes from KL. They are popular for Hindu festivals and pilgrimages, particularly the feats performed annually by Thaipusam devotees. The Temple Cave is the centerpiece of this attraction.
Petaling Jaya is an industrial satellite town, purposely built. It hosts the University of Malaya and boasts some good shopping but the real reason most visitors come is for the enjoyment of Sunway Lagoon, a huge theme park with large waterslides and the world's biggest surf-wave pool.
Developed during the colonial era, Templer Park covers 500 hectares of primary jungle with excellent hiking trails, swimming lagoons and several waterfalls, as well as Bukit Takun limestone formations. Its a mere one hour north of KL.
