Kos Island International Airport is situated at Hippocrates and is sometimes referred to as Kos Ippokratis Airport. It is the only international airport on Kos Island and is regarded as the sixth most important airport in Greece in terms of traffic. The airport serves approximately two million passengers annually, and is busiest during the summer months, when it operates 24 hours a day. It is connected with Athens throughout the year by means of Olympic Airways flights. The journey from Athens to Kos takes about 35 minutes.
There are two passenger terminals at Kos Airport: Arrivals and Departures. At present there are 12 check-in desks, five gates and three baggage claim belts for the entire airport, but an expansion process is planned for the Departures terminal.

Considering its size, Kos Airport is not particularly comprehensively equipped in terms of passenger services. However, it does have a health care centre and a police station. Restaurant services and duty-free shopping are both offered at the airport.
Kos Airport is located 26kms west of Kos town. Transport to and from the airport is available for Olympic passengers in the form of Olympic shuttle buses. Passengers of all other flights can take a taxi, or walk towards the giant roundabout outside the airport gates and find a KTEL bus running to Kos town, Mastihari, Kardhamena or Kefalos.
