Mini guide to Konstanz
Konstanz:Konstanz is a university town at the western end of Lake Constance in the south-west corner of Germany. The town is found very close to the border of Switzerland. The city is located on the Lake Constance which is a part of the Rhine river. The Rhine river, which starts its course from the Alps of Switzerland, pases through the lake. It flows under a bridge connecting the two parts of the city. The larger part of the city is found to the north of the river. This area is entirely occupied by the residential areas and the industrial estates. To the south of the river, there are a group of ferries which provide access across Lake Constance to several cites. The border the town to the south leads to the Swiss town of Kreuzlingen.
The Münster cathedral is the most significant landmark in Konstanz. The majesty of the cathedral covers the entire city. There are also several other churches and three towers outside the city which marks the place of the former medieval bridge over the Rhine. The University of Konstanz houses a library with a large collection of books which are freely accessible throught the day. Konstanz was the birthplace of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, constructor of the famous Zeppelin airships.
