Kokopo is the capital of the East New Britain province of Papua New Guinea. It replaced nearby Rabaul as the area’s administrative seat in 1994 after its volcanoes (Tavervur and Vulcan) erupted.

Those preferring to check out the bunkers on a golf course can head to Ralum Golf Course in Kokopo which overlooks Simpson Harbour. The course is adjacent to the ruins of Queen Emma’s Kokopo home, Gunatambu Mansion.
