Mini guide to Kitzingen
Kitzingen:Kitzingen is a town in the state of Bavaria. It is the capital of the district Kitzingen which has the same name as the town. Kitzingen is a part of the Franconia geographical region. A large number of people live in Kitzingen.
Kitzingen if known for the Crooked tower. It is famous among tourists and attracts a lot of attention in Bavaria. Its distinction from the other towers is that it has a crooked roof. The Crooked tower was constructed in 1200 AD and since then it has been a part of the Kitzingen society. During its construction, the workers had used wine instead of water to make the mortar. This has caused the top of the tower to lean. Today, the Crooked tower is a museum.
Along with the crooked tower comes a local legend. It is said that the golden ball on top of the Crooked tower contains the heart of Vlad Dracula of Romania. The golden ball leans directly towards a graveyard containing a grave called the Grave of Dracula. Another legend is that the upside down crosses that make up the small windows on the tower, appear right side up when light casts towards the grave yard. They say that it is to drive away the vampires. But, it is also said that the grave actually belonged to a very rich family in Kitzingen.
