Car Hire in Kerry - Getting to Kerry
The nearest airport to Kerry is Cork International Airport, just outside Cork City (a two-hour drive away). It has numerous flights from London, Manchester and other UK cities. There are also flights from some major European cities as well as from Dublin and Belfast. For US visitors, Shannon International Airport is the nearest option - a three-hour drive from Kerry.
There is one train line through Kerry. It begins in Tralee and continues through Killarney to Mallow in Cork. Here you must change to a Cork- or Dublin-bound train. Train and bus terminals share the same station in both Tralee and Killarney.
Bus Eireann, the national bus company, has decent services to both Killarney and Tralee, the biggest town in Kerry. Cork and Limerick are the main routes but there are also buses to Dublin and Galway. There are also services to County Kerry, though they may drop you some distance from your destination if its not on the main route.
Road distances in Kerry are often deceiving due to the winding and roundabout nature of the network. This is part of the countys charm but dont expect to cover long distances very quickly! The N22 heads east to Cork, and the N70 goes northwards to Limerick and Shannon Airport.
