Car Hire Kefalonia Island National Airport - Mini guide to Kefalonia Island National Airport
Kefalonia Island National Airport is the only airport serving the Greek holiday destination of Kefalonia. It receives internal flights from Olympic Airlines, and its passenger intake is close to 400,000 annually.
Kefalonia Airport has only one terminal, serving both incoming and outgoing flights. The terminal has three check-in desks, three gates and two baggage claim belts. Owing to its small size, passenger services are limited, and banking is unavailable. There is no left luggage centre, but there is a post office, a first aid department, a tourist help desk and disabled access and facilities.
The airport offers duty-free shopping, and additionally has a gift shop and a newsagent/tobacconist. It also has several cafeterias and bars, as well as a VIP lounge.
Kefalonia Airport is situated nine kilometres south of the islands capital, Argostoli. It takes only a few minutes to reach Argostoli from the airport, but the island is fairly large and travel time between the airport and the resorts varies, with some resorts as far as 50kms away. No public buses run from the airport, and taxis are available but expensive. Some hotels offer transfers from the airport via private minibuses. There are 80 short-term parking spaces and 30 long-term spaces at Kefalonia Airport.
