Car Rental Kansas City - Exploring Kansas City
Southern Missouri contains the states most impressive scenery and is easily reached by car from Kansas City. The landscape is one of beautiful hillsides, streams and ragged lakes of the Ozark Mountains, with the most popular urban centre being the up-and-coming country and western town of Branson.
The Ozarks offer superb outdoor recreational opportunities, such as camping, hiking, canoeing, rafting, fishing and cycling; while Branson boasts some of the best regular country and western music concerts in the US, as well as the enthralling Silver Dollar City theme park.
The eastern part of the state is dominated by the Mississippi River, and there are plenty of charming river towns along its length worthy of a stop, including Hannibal, the childhood town of Mark Twain, and Ste Genevieve, with its serene Gallic atmosphere. St Louis is the largest urban centre in east Missouri.
Located between Kansas City and St Louis, Jefferson City, the capital of Missouri, is noted for its Italian-Renaissance capitol, made of Carthage marble, and its murals by Thomas Hart Benton. The northwest of the state, home of the Pony Express and outlaw Jesse James, still strikes up images of frontier times, as you explore the many interesting country roads and small towns.
