History:
The origins date back to well before the second millennium BC. Around 207BC the city was taken over by Romans. Later in the middle age they city was regarded high by the Arabs who ruled in Spain. It was in the late 19th century the city was added to the Spanish kingdom.
How to get here??
The city can be reached by driving through the A316 Highway and the Sierra Nevada Highway A44. The railway station in the city is one of the most important in the province. Also buses to the city are well connected with most major cities in Spain.

The town is located at a fairly high altitude of 573m above sea level and has a population of over 116,000 inhabitants spread over an area of 425 square km. The city is about 335 km to Madrid and 804 km to Barcelona.

The city is well connected by buses and is managed by a local company called Castillo SA and has 23 service lines connecting the various districts of the capital. Also the city has a number of taxis that can be used by the tourists. There is also a Tram network in the city.
