The city of Istanbul is probably the main tourist attraction in all of Turkey. It has two international airports - Istanbul Ataturk airport (IST) and Istanbul Airport Sabiha gokcen (SAW). The second airport, Sabiha Gokcen, is located 40 km from the city center, on the Asian side. It is the newest airport in Turkey, which opened only in 2001, and international traffic at present is still very low. It is used mainly for chartered and cargo flights.
Because the airport is pretty far from the city center, several modes of transportation are available there such as bus transfers from Havas and Pegasus which costs around 5.50YTL. Taxis cost around 50 YTL and several car hire providers like Avis, Decar, Hertz, WRC and CarHire 3000 are present at the airport.
There are two information centers at the airport – one located in the international terminal while the other in the domestic terminal. The airport is also equipped with a business center which is located at the CIP Lounges at the Departures in the International airport. There are two lounges which has computers, telephones, fax and internet services. Both terminals of the airport also have ATMs and public pay phones. There are also several restaurants, bars and cafes in the departures area and duty-free shopping at the international terminal. Trolleys and baby-care room are available free of charge.
