Rent a Car israel - Geography israel
Israel is situated in the Middle East, bordering the Mediterranean Sea between Egypt and Lebanon. The Great Rift Valley is a spectacular geographical feature beginning beyond the source of the River Jordan and extending south through the Dead Sea, into the Red Sea. One strange result of this is the Dead Sea, the earths lowest land, and it is an inland lake lying in the lower Jordan Valley, flanked by the Judean and Moab Mountains. Its minerals and high salt content are famous for their health-giving properties.
The Jordan is Israels only river; therefore it tends to be a very dry country with agriculture existing mainly in the north. Israel has two main geographic zones: northern Israel is relatively lush with forests, streams and mountains, whereas southern Israel is arid with wild tulips and date palms. Israel is rich in natural history with around 200 national parks throughout. Due to its location, Israel is a flyway point for migratory birds and literally thousands of species can be seen here as they swap hemispheres.
