Car Hire in Indianapolis - Getting to Indianapolis
Indianapolis International Airport is served by most of the major domestic carriers, with connections from Chicagos OHare Airport usually more convenient than direct flights for international visitors.
Several interstate highways serve Indianapolis, making the city easily accessible by car. I-65 leads to Chicago, Illinois and Louisville (Kentucky), while I-70 heads to St Louis, Michigan and Columbus (Ohio), and I-75 runs to Cincinnati. Farther north in the state, both I-90 and I-94 enter the state from Chicago and pass through Gary, with I-94 continuing up to Detroit, while I-90 goes on all the way to Boston.
Indianapolis Union Station has regular Amtrak services to Chicago, Washington DC and Cincinnati. From Chicago, it is possible to get trains to major cities of both the northeast coast and west coast.
Greyhound buses offer cheap but uncomfortable and time-consuming connections to destinations throughout the state and to cities in the region and beyond.
