Car Hire Ikebukuro / Tokyo - Mini guide to Ikebukuro / Tokyo

Ikebukuro is a part of the buzzing capital of Japan, and is situated in the North west of Tokyo. Being a part of the modern capital of an economically advanced nation, little needs to be said about the accessibility of this place, and availability for various services and facilities such as hotels, restaurants and car hire services.

If you expect to find some of the marvels of modern technology in Ikebukuro, you won’t be disappointed. Ikebukuro is home to the world’s largest departmental stores in the world, one of the world’s largest car showrooms, and one of the world’s fastest lifts in the world. It also has the distinction of having the second tallest building in Tokyo.

Two of the world’s largest departmental stores that you can see standing opposite each other, owe their existence to competing Railroad companies that built them to whet the appetites of hungry passengers.

The “Sunshine city”, which is situated in the eastern side of the Ikebukuro station, is a complex of four buildings, including Tokyo’s second tallest building that was built in 1978 on land that was once home to the Sugamo prison. This building is 240 meters high, and has an observation gallery in the sixtieth floor. The lift in this building is the fastest in the world, taking just 35 seconds to reach up to sixty floors, and has a lot of added attractions such as illuminated dolphins and unicorns, and good music.

Other attractions in the city include a planetarium, an aquarium, a small museum, and a theme park for children.

You can also see the Toyota Amlux auto salon, one of the largest auto showrooms in the world. The showroom extends over six floors and has a futuristic design. Another important landmark is the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space that has a concert hall, theaters and exhibition rooms.

If you are anywhere near Tokyo, a visit to Ikebukuro should be a part of your itinerary. With convenient car hire services available on call, that shouldn’t be too difficult, no matter how busy you are.
