Car Hire in Ibiza - Getting to Ibiza
Ferry and flights are only two ways to get to this Balearic Island off the eastern coast of Spain. The latter is the most popular and most visitors arrive on package deals or charter flights. There are tons of direct flights to Ibiza from all European destinations - you can often get affordable flights as part of a resort package. If you're already enjoying Spanish hospitality, however, the cheapest independent flights are usually from of Barcelona or Valencia (about 55 from Barcelona). There are also frequent Island hopper flights to Palma (Majorca) and Mahon (Menorca), taking less than 30 minutes. Taxis and shuttles from the airport are numerous, and always waiting, like vultures, when flights arrive.
Another option is making the trip by boat. A speedy Buquebús ferry rockets between Barcelona and Ibiza/Palma de Mallorca twice daily. It takes about three hours and tickets start at 44. Several other companies run slower ferries between Barcelona or Valencia and Ibiza or Mallorca. These take around eight hours and cost about 32 in the high season; space for cars is limited.
Ferries running between the four main islands generally cost 16-21 (one way).
