Car Rental Ibiza - Exploring Ibiza
Ten miles northeast of Ibiza Town is Santa Eularia a des Riu, a beautiful little town set on the seashore and situated beside the only river in the Balearics. It boasts an attractive hilltop church, and an ethnological museum, set in an ancient farmhouse.
Nearby, Sant Carles is an agreeable one-horse village where there's a popular hippie market which attracts both islanders and resident bohemians alike. East of here is the road passes through fields of olive, almond and carob trees to several untouched beaches such as Cala Llenya.
The coastal road follows an exhilarating, serpentine route above the shore, through thick pine forests and past the nudist beach at Aigues Biancas.
There are more stunning beaches north of Sant Joan, especially remote Cala den Serra a tiny, exquisite sandy cove, with turquoise waters - perfect for snorkelling. A road also wriggles through a beautiful, fertile valley, past olive-terraces down to Es Port beach.
It's just 15kms from Sant Antoni de Portmany to Ibiza Town east along the main road, but you can detour taking the southern, more scenic route via Sant Josep, a pretty village with a magnificently minimalist village church, and a selection of good places to stop for a drink or a snack.
