Car Hire in Houston - Getting to Houston
Bush Intercontinental Airport is Houstons major airport and services by major domestic and international airlines, with trans-Atlantic flights as well as routes to Caribbean and central/South American destinations. It is well serviced with shuttles, limos, and buses to the city centre, though the former is a preferable and more reliable option. George William P Hobby Airport is a sceondar airport served by discount carrier Southwest Airlines. Bus service to Hobby Airport is generally more reliable.
The Amtrak rail service to Houston is very limited and the Sunset Limited arrives thrice a week from Los Angeles to New Orleans and on to Orlando (and return). Its often late however.
Greyhound is the major bus carrier in the US. Its the cheapest but least comfortable means of travel, especially in Texas where large distances are involved.
By far the best way to get around, and in and out, Houston is with a car. As a city built around the car, Houston has good highways radiating in all directions.
