Car Hire Horta Airport - Mini guide to Horta Airport

Located on the southeast coast of Faial Island, Horta Airport is only 10kms from downtown Horta city. SATA (Air Azores) operates scheduled flights from/to Ponta Delgada and Horta.

The airport has only one terminal which caters for all flights. Essential facilities are limited, with just a post office and a few ATMs. There is, however, a press centre by the check-in area. A tourism information counter is also provided, and includes a gift shop and delicatessen. On the second floor there is a nice coffee shop near the public terrace. Information and Lost and Found counters are located at the City of Horta Police Command Centre, centrally located in the terminal.

Horta Airport is conveniently linked to the Horta city centre. A taxi service provides a permanent link with the airport (a 15-minute drive on average). However, at peak times the number of taxis can be considerably reduced, so it is a good idea to book a taxi in advance for the return trip to the airport. The airport is connected to the city centre by buses of the public transport system. The duration of the ride is about 45 minutes.
