Car Rental Honolulu Airport - Transportation to and From Honolulu Airport
The city bus routes 19 and 20 go to Waikiki and to various other downtown locations from airport exits. There are no rail services operational at Honolulu International Airport.
The Airport Waikiki Express shuttle bus, running services from the airport to any Waikiki hotel is about US$8. This service operates in front of terminal buildings and is run frequently during daylight hours, twice per hour.
Outside of rush hour, it will take about 20 minutes by taxi to get from the airport to the town of Waikiki. The fare will typically be between $20 and $25. Insist on a meter.
Waikiki is only a half-hour drive from the airport, outside of rush hours. Coming from Waikiki, you get to the end of the main Kalakaua Avenue and then make a left turn just prior to Honolulu Zoo. Now on Kapahulu Avenue, you continue to its end, where you reach the H-1 freeway. Continuing westbound along H-1, follow the signs to the airport. From the airport to Waikiki, take the ramp leading onto the H-1 freeway eastbound, and then follow signs for the Nimitz highway. The highway leads to the harbour where it becomes Ala Moana Boulevard, and leads into Waikiki.
Parking is located near the airport, offering short term, long term and valet parking options. Disabled parking areas are also available. Most airport parking is walking distance from the airport complex, but shuttle services, free of charge, are available from the more distant parking sites.
