Beautifully located in the West Midlands, Hinkley borders both Warwickshire and Leicestershire, and is perfectly situated as a base for exploring the plentiful historic and natural attractions of these two counties.
For many visitors, the fields to the north of the town are the main drawcard. This was the scene of the final War of the Roses Bosworth Battlefield Field - where, in 1485, Henry Tudor became King Henry VII after killing Richard III. The site has a visitors center with interesting exhibits on the events leading up to the battle and of the battle itself. Nearby is Bosworth Market, a popular market town with a range of historical attractions.
Great for kids is the Hinkley Point 'A' Visitor Centre, which features a variety of enthralling interactive displays as well as an exciting Nature Trail. Elsewhere in the town is the excellent Hinkley and District Museum, which includes exhibits illustrating aspects of the history of Hinckley and district from prehistoric to modern times, including the Battle of Bosworth 1485.
Hinkley has quality accommodation and some excellent restaurants. Nightlife is centered around several atmospheric of bars and pubs. A wide variety of recreational attractions are available for the more energetic, including Drayton Manor Park, Twycross Zoo, Donington Park, Mallory Park and The American Adventure World.
A short drive through Warwickshire and Leicestershire countryside will take you out to the famous castles of Kenilworth and Warwick, Belvoir Castle, Coventry Cathedral, Shakespeare's Stratford Upon Avon, and a host of other pretty Warwickshire and Leicestershire villages. For an interesting excursion, take one of the cruises along the historic Coventry or Ashby canals.
Birmingham International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away from Hinkley, and is the ideal gateway for overseas visitors. However, Gatwick and Heathrow are within just a few hours drive for those wishing to take in the pleasant English countryside on their way to the region.
