Car Rental Halifax - Exploring Halifax
Getting around downtown Halifax on foot is easy, but cars are also a pleasant alternative. There are many beautiful places to see within driving distance from Halifax. A few minutes from Dartmouth across the bridge from Halifax, lies the Eastern Passage, famous for the daring escape of the notorious privateer "Tallahassee". Buy live lobster, fill up on great seafood, shop along the boardwalk in the funky converted fishermens' shanties, or take the McNab's Island Ferry to this historic island at the mouth of Halifax Harbour.
For those fascinated by geology, the Fundy Shore, in the Parrsboro area, is a rock-lovers paradise. Its a two hours away from Halifax/Dartmouth, but worth the drive. For an impressive drive along the coastline, or for activities such as surfing, building sand castles, sea-kayaking, or hiking, take Marine Drive (Highway 7) from Dartmouth, and follow the signs to the Eastern Shore.
For adventurers and pirates alike, try your luck at finding the missing fortune said to be hidden somewhere on Oak Island (also known as Treasure Island), only a 40 minute drive from Halifax. Oxford, the blueberry capital of Canada, is the place to go for some of the worlds best wild blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup. And within an hour's drive of Halifax is famous Peggy's Cove, home of the world's most photographed lighthouse.
