With a 13 km coastline, The Hague has two stunning seaside resorts; Scheveningen and Kijkduin. Scheveningen, is the most popular with white sands, good waves and a vibrant nightlife. There is dancing, shopping, museums, a casino, dining out and many music festivals here in the summer. During the winter months, the promenade is decorated with dozens of Christmas trees and thousands of twinkling lights. Kijkduin, is a pleasant seaside resort with beautiful beaches and a great boulevard with shops and restaurants. The town boasts a splendid bungalow park and an excellent four-star hotel.
The National Sea Life Scheveningen, an aquarium, is brimming with amazing creatures such as sharks, rays and jellyfish. They also have an underwater observatory and a replica of a tropical reef and an 8 m tunnel to walk through.
Other old castles near The Hague from the same period are The Leiden, Teylingen and Brederode. The castle of Leiden is a unique, circular fort situated on a hill in the middle of the old town. Castle Teylingen lies near Leiden (next to motorway N206 in Sassenheim). Castle Brederode also lies near the motorway N206 in Santpoort.
The Netherlands is actually quite small and its possible to visit many of its attractions all in the same day (if youre in a rush!). Delft is a quaint town with canals, windmills and a few cobbled streets to cop your clogs on. Its famous for its distinctive blue and white porcelain.
The countrys most visited city is undoubtedly Amsterdam with its famous concentric canals, narrow buildings, excellent museums, crazy red light district and laidback coffeeshops. It has a delightfully unhurried atmosphere, but gets crowded with tourist during the summer.
