Guingamp
This small town in the Côtes d’Armor department of France’s Brittany region has a rich history for travellers to explore. Local festivals, history and architecture draw both national and international visitors.
The town has gained much fame for its En Avant Guingamp football team in France’s second-highest football league, Ligue 2. The Saint-Loup dance festival, held annually in the middle of August, is a well-known Breton festival that also draws many visitors to Guingamp.
The ruins of three towers lie in the middle of the town, evidence of the three castles that were destroyed by Richelieu.
The Basilica of Notre Dame de Bon Secours houses the ‘Black Virgin,’ making it a significant pilgrimage site. Pilgrims usually make the journey during the ‘annual pardon.
