Groningen Airport is the regional airport for the north of the Netherlands. This small but efficient airport handles approximately 100,000 passengers a year with 21 weekly charter flights to 12 different destinations (including London, Stansted) in the summer, and 4 charter flights to 3 different sun destinations in the winter.
There is one passenger terminal with three check-in desks and one gate. Operating hours are: Monday - Friday (05:30-22:00); Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (06:30-20:30). Essential facilities include an ATM machine. Passenger facilities include a restaurant with terrace, and the Airportshop, with its tax-free shopping.
The airport can be reached by Arriva Bus Services number 52 or 53 from Groningen central station; buses run at least twice per hour on weekdays, but less frequently during weekends. You can also take a 'treintaxi', (a special taxi service bought in combination with a train ticket) from Dutch Railways stations.
The airport is located 16kms south of Groningen city centre along the A28 highway. There is a limousine and shuttle service from the airport to the city centre. Taxis are also readily available.
Short-term parking costs 1 per hour, 10 per day and 20 for two days. Long-term parking (more than two days) costs 25 for three to eight days and 30 for nine days or more. SIG Groundservice has an information counter in the passenger terminal.
