Granollers is the capital city and the largest of the Eastern Valles province in Barcelona, Spain. The main occupation is trade and industry though there are still farms at the southern end of the city.

History:

The city’s oldest remains date back to more than 4000 years. But the first documented evidence is the archeological finds in the 10th century belonging to Roman Empire. The Renaissance movement helped the city grow economically in the middle ages and was later occupied by Napoleon in the early 19th century.

How to get here??

The city is well connected with Barcelona and has daily buses. You also have trains from Granollers to Barcelona and Gerona. By road you can reach the town through exit 13 in the AP7 or the C17, C35 and C60 highways.

Geography:

The city is located near the costal lines of the Mediterranean Sea and is at an altitude of 150m above sea level. It has a population of 60,000 residents over 27 square km. of surface area. The natives of the town are called as Granollerino.

Getting around the town:

The town is relatively smaller and you can hire bikes or bicycles to travel to the various tourist attractions. You can also hire a taxi for just about 6 Euros to get around the town.

Places to Visit:

The most famous La porxada building in this town is the Renaissance building which served as a grain store house during the renaissance movement. The saint Domenec hospital which is now converted to a theatre is also one of the other attractions.

Climatic conditions:

The city enjoys a healthy climate just like any other Spanish town with a number of sunny days and the winter can get pretty cold but is still pleasant to visit the town.
