Car Hire Gimpo Airport - Mini guide to Gimpo Airport
The Gimpo International Airport (also known more commonly as Gimpo Airport) is located in Seoul, Korea. Seoul is the capital of South Korea and is a major tourist destination in Asia. The airport is located south of the Han River. It is located on the far western end of the city and was the main international airport for South Korea before the Incheon International Airport was opened in 2001. Gimpo is now the second largest airport in South Korea.
Because of Incheon International Airport, Gimpo Airport primarily serves domestic flights, with a limited schedule of international flights. Domestic destinations include: Busan, Gwangju, Jeju, Jinju, Muan, Pohang, Ulsan, and Yeosu. International flight destinations include: Tokyo and Shanghai beginning in 2003 and 2007, respectively.
The Gimpo airport was originally a runway built by the United States forces in 1951 during the Korean War. It has since grown into a significant airport that has the capacity to handle more than 200,000 flights per year. Before the international functions were changed to Incheon, Gimpo had one domestic and two international terminals. The airport has two runways, two passenger terminals, and one cargo terminal.
The Gimpo Airport used to be served by a railway line called the Gimpo Line. So it is more convenient to hire a car for travel to and from this airport. Many public transportation lines such as the Seoul Subway Line 5 and the AREX airport express line serve the Incheon International Airport.
