One of the prettiest and more undulating areas of German is Bavaria, at the foot of the Alps. Three castles built near Füssen; Neuschwanstein (which inspired Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle), Hohenschwanstein and Linderhof are plastered on tourist posters of Bavaria the world over. The scenery around Lake Constance and the Black Forest is beautiful.
Lübeck, in Germany's northernmost state - Schleswig-Holstein, is a glorious medieval town that's earned its place on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
