Gandia is a town that is located in the Valencia province. It is situated in the district of La Safor which is of major importance. The city is one of the largest economic towns in the state and has a huge income thanks to tourism.

History:

The origin of this town dates back to the Upper Paleolithic. In contrast to the evidence found for life in the Paleolithic times there is rarely evidence of the Bronze Age. Romanisation is well portrayed by the town which can date back to the imperial times. The city was of utmost importance in the middle ages and had a thriving university which is not operational anymore.

How to get here??

From Valencia the city can be accessed easily through roads N-332 or the AP-7. It also has a railway station which has connection to Valencia and has connections to Madrid during summers. The nearest airport is at Valencia and is 81km away. A taxi to the airport would cost you about 90 Euros.

Geography:

Being in the southern Valencia, the city is fairly flat on the coastal side and has mountainous terrains to the west. The highest elevation is at 22m and it has a population of just over 75,000 spread over 70 square km.

Getting around the town:

Within the city you can use the La Marina Gandiense Bus service. Taxis can also be used for getting around the town. Bikes are one of the best means to travel faster and can be rented.

Places to visit:

The tourist attractions in the city include the 18th century town hall, the Ducal palace, Alqueria del Duc, Colegiata, The Bayren Castle and some beautiful beaches that run along for about 4 km.

The City has regular guided tours through the year. The tour takes you through the historic old town and the Castle tours are and added advantage where the guides can explain about the history of these castles.

The city is known to be sunny all round the year and has an average temperature of just over 16ยบ Celsius.
