Car Hire Freudenstadt - Mini guide to Freudenstadt

Freudenstadt

The town of Freudenstadt is comfortably situated in the southwest corner of Germany and is home to approximately 24,000 residents. Best known for its great climate and health resorts, this town is popular with Germans, and visitors from all over Europe who’d like to enjoy the relaxing hotspots. Many celebrities and royals have made the jaunt to Freudenstadt and among them Mark Twain, Ambassador Rockefeller, the Queen of Sweden, King George of England, and many others. The market is also the site of bustling activity, and the city church holds its own in the visitor itinerary.

Although Freudenstadt is not steeped in history as some of the surrounding areas in Germany, it has made quite the name for itself since its origins in the very late 16th century. Landmarks to see include the aforementioned market places, which are the largest in Germany, the green-roofed Evangelical Lutheran Church which serves as the towns most notable structure, the town hall and museum of history, and the local castle Barenschloble that was built in 1627. You can even see all of these on foot since they are part of or surround the market places. You needn’t worry about the weather since it typically cooperates and temperatures range from 65 degrees down to 40 degrees, with relatively little rainfall except in the early spring. To make matters even easier, you can get to Freudenstadt by rail, or car, and once you’re here, will probably want to park and walk to get the most enjoyment of the scenery and village culture.

Depending on the time of year you are here, you might enjoy the Advent celebration in December, or maybe the gardens in spring and summer. The markets serve as the perfect spot to pick up the perfect gift for your or someone else, and you can enjoy a bite at one of the outdoor cafes or popular pubs. Despite the relatively small size of the town, villas and inns are abundant, and if you are simply visiting for a day, you will find the welcoming atmosphere of the residents a marked difference from big city life.
