Car Hire Freising - Mini guide to Freising

Freising

Freising is a large district town with a rich cultural history dating back more than 1,300 years. The crest for the town shows a bear, which takes its root in the fact that in the mid 8th century, comes from the bear that adorned the uniform of the Bishop of the Archdiocese of Munich who led the early church in what is now Freising. As the centuries passed, the town became the seat of many political events and eventually royalty as the most important central place at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. Industry and art seemed to grow simultaneously in the mid 19th century, and with the coming of the railway came many students seeking to learn from the spiritual leaders headquartered in Freising. This culture of spirituality and art history remain today, and are a source for many a visitor, and an economic stronghold for the community.

The calendar is dotted with events taking place throughout the year in Freising, and the museums, galleries, gardens, churches, vast libraries, and shopping will certainly keep you busy as well. There is a concentrated effort to include young people in activities, and an organized city youth program is in place to keep them active and part of the larger community. As a result, parents love to start families here, and many of them came to the quaint town to get married and then decided to stay. The theatres, music, dance and other entertainment venues are all over the city, and attract outsiders into town from all over Germany. The close proximity to Munich to the south of town, and abundance of large corporations and mid sized companies make this an even more attractive place to live.

The weather is moderate with the average temperature in the low 50 degrees, and this makes for the perfect spot for outdoor activities. The Christmas events that take place during the months of November and December bring in a lot of guests, and even on the cooler days, the skies tend to be bright blue. Coming into the town is easy because of the railway, and many highways that serve as a gateway from Freising into nearby Munich. Once you visit, you may want to stay…
