Car Hire in Fiji - Getting to Fiji
Despite its minute size, Fiji is an important Pacific stopover, becoming such a busy hub that it has two international airports. Many international carriers stop here between North American and Australia/New Zealand, with frequent connections to other Asian and Polynesian destinations.
Nadi International Airport is the busiest, just 9kms from Nadi city centre, while Nausori International Airport is 23kms north-east of Suva. Taxi and shuttle are the commonest way of getting to and from the airport. There are regular flights from both airports to selected outer islands as well as ferries from Nadi and Suva.
The only other way to get to Fiji is by private yacht. Charters are popular and rewarding, if you have a yachtmasters licence you can self-charter from mariners at Vuda Point Marina (between Nadi and Lautoka) and Musket Cove Marina on Plantation Island in the Mamanucas.
