Car Hire Fabriano - Mini guide to Fabriano

Fabriano

Fabriano, a town in Italy, famous for its paper mills and production of watermarked papers is the birthplace of Gentile de Fabriano, well-known painter of the 15th century.

History

This town was discovered sometime during the Middle Ages and due to the establishment of paper mills and production of high quality paper on an industrial scale, Fabriano flourished in the Late Middle ages. This led to the development of a printing center near Foligna, thus establishing the first printing center in Italy.

Geography

Fabriano belongs to the Ancona province in the Marches region in central Italy. It lies in the valley of Esino in the vicinity of Fossato di Vico, Jesi and Gubbio. Fabriano covers an area of 269.91 km² with an elevation of 325m above sea level. The population of this town is approximately 30,676.

How to get here?

Fabriano lies at the location of the rail and road lines and can be easily accessed. The route SS76 is nearer to the town. The rail line of Fabriano is just 1.02Km distant and the airport of Perugia Sant'Egidio is far off at 41.79Km.

Getting around the place

Hired taxis are available for transportation within the city. Buses are also an option to look through the town. But the town is meant to be seen by foot to admire and praise the frescoes.

Places to visit

The few places which evoke a tourist’s interest are Palazzo del Podestà, Sturinalto Fountain, Communal Palace, Museum of Paper, Vasari Portico and Loggiato of St. Francis and some other famous cathedrals present in the town. The town has exhibits of Allegretto di Nuzio, a disciple of Fabriano rather than the works of Gentile de Fabriano.

Guides

Fabriano is not known to be a tourist destination and hence there is not much to be seen in the town. Locals can provide the information on the town and can serve as guides as there is no need for an expert guide.

Climate

Fabriano experiences a cold climate with temperatures tending to hit around -4°C during winters but generally has good weather all around the year.
