Estepona is a costal town in the Malaga province in Spain. The town is situated in the southwestern part of the country and is famous for fishing and agriculture. The people of the town are known as esteponeros.

History:

The city dates back to 208BC when the Romans invaded. It was in 1342 that there was a major Naval battle between thirty galleys. The Christians conquered the castle and the town hall in the 15th century from the Islamic rulers and bringing back Christianity to the town.

How to get here??

The town can be reached by the AP7 roadway or the A7 motorway. The nearest airport is about 45km from the town situated at Gibraltar and has daily flight connections with Madrid, London and other major cities in Europe.

Geography:

The town is situated between the mediterranien sea and the mountains of Sierra Bermeja mountains. It has a coastline of 21km and has a population of just about 59,000 inhabitants over and area of 137 square km.

Getting Around the city:

The City has a fair number of taxi stands from where you can hire taxis either on daily basis or just for a trip. It is one of the most reliable and cheap means of commuting in the town.

Places to visit:

Some of the places that are worth visiting include Ruins of the Castle of Louis from the 16th century, the Nicio Castle dating back to 9th century, the Punta Maiden lighthouse, the various museums, the natural parks and the Sierra Bermeja mountains.
