ErlangenErlangen is a city in the Bavarian State in Germany. It is one of the 23 main cities in the Bavarian province. The city is famous for its Beer Festival that takes place for 12 days and draws more than a million visitors every year.
The city had its first mention in the early 11th century and been in spotlight ever since. It was sold to Emperor Karl IV in the 14th century. It was after this that the city got its own Mining station. After the French Revolution the city became a part of the Bavarian Kingdom.
The nearest airport is at Nuremberg. The city is also connected by the A73 auto bahn and A3 auto bahn. There are also daily train services to Nuremberg and Frankfurt which are the two nearest cities.
The city is divided into 16 districts and is situated at an altitude of 280m above sea level. The city has a registered population of about 103,900 spread over an area of 77 square km.
The city has a number of taxis to help you get around the town and also is connected by the S-Rail system that connects to the Main station at the city center.
The city has quite a number of wonderful museums that are worth visiting including the city museum at the town hall. The other places to visit are the various castles situated around the town along with the beautiful gardens. There are also palace complexes and theatres that are worth visiting.
