The Lutherhaus, now a museum, is one of the oldest and most picturesque half-timbered buildings in Eisenach. Martin Luther lived here as a child and his life and teachings are illustrated here. Bachhaus: The 600 year old house, built within a square called Frauenplan, was converted to a museum in 1907 and is dedicated to the life and work of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Narrow House: the narrowest half-timbered house in Germany, built around 1750, it is only 2.05 meters wide.
People who frequently visit Eisenach also enjoy visiting the Reuter-Wagner-Museum: home of poet Fritz Reuter, it also contains the world’s second-largest Richard Wagner exhibition. Karlsplatz: the only surviving city gate in the town, Luther Monument and Nikolaikirche (Nikolai Church) are also here. Marktplatz: the market square which contains Georgenkirche (the Church of St. George), the town hall and Baroque city castle. Jakobsplan: monument to St George also contains part of old town walls and the Goethe Garden. The Stadtschloss: town palace built between 1742 and 1745 is now a local museum, which also hosts special exhibitions. Rathaus or town hall: was formerly a wine cellar which currently houses the city administration offices.
