In the old days, when Dubrovnik was a powerful city, rich aristocrats built their summer houses here.Today, many of the local inhabitants rent out rooms to visitors, and there are several restaurants along the seafront offering a variety of food.
If you are a wine enthusiast, head for the peninsula of Peljesac, a region of vineyards where it is possible to taste the local produce in privately-owned local cellars. Croatian red wines are of a consistently high quality and are the perfect reminder of a visit to the country.
