Car Hire Disneyland - Mini guide to Disneyland

Disneyland is one of the most popular theme parks in the world, and the original park has been continually revamped and added to, ensuring that both first time and return visitors are continually surprised by the attractions.

The 'Happiest Place on Earth' now features Adventureland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Main Street USA, Mickey's Toontown, New Orleans Square and Tomorrowland. Adventureland brings you to exotic regions of Asia, Africa, India and the South Pacific. Kids love Critter Country's animatronic singing animals and the Splash Mountain ride.

Fantasyland offers an eclectic mix of storybook settings and the famous ‘It's a Small World’ and ‘Matterhorn Bobsled’ rides; while Frontierland is home to Tom Sawyer's Island, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Rivers of America show.

Mickey's Toontown takes its cue from Roger Rabbit's CarToonSpin; while Main Street USA provides a ride-free respite with information and practical supplies. In New Orleans Square are the high-tech ‘Haunted House’ and the fantastic ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ attractions. ‘Tomorrowland’ is the funky home of Space Mountain and Star Tours.

The two other main theme parks in the area are California Adventure, which uses a combination of themed areas with rides, interactive attractions and live-action shows, and Knott's Berry Farm, which features Camp Snoopy, The Roaring '20s Amusement Area, Wild Water Wilderness and much more.

Downtown Disney is designed to meet all of your other entertainment, dining and shopping needs. It features a vast array of Disney toys and collectables, plush movie theatres, and a range of restaurants with live music.

Disneyland is conveniently close to all other major attractions around Los Angeles. For more themed fun, try Universal studios, Hollywood and Universal Studios, which let you experience the famous American film industry. Alternatively, those into reality might like to head to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive for a glimpse of the rich and famous. Along the coast are some of the state's most famous beaches like Malibu and Venice.

Disneyland is located just 48kms south of Los Angeles and can be reached by car via I-5, the major north-south highway through the state. From I-5, there are several off-ramps leading to the theme park. Amtrak has passenger trains that run throughout the country, while Greyhound buses connect all of the major cities in California to destinations beyond the state. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the nation's busiest, with connections to cities all over the world.
