The charming harbor town of Dieppe attracts visitors with its quaint traditional atmosphere, historic architecture, and pleasant seaside districts, making it a relaxing holiday destination.
The highlight of a visit to Dieppe is to explore the ancient port area and discover the charming districts of Bout du Quai and Le Pollet. Bout du Quai (‘end of the quay’) is the oldest part of the town, while Le Pollet is on a hillside overlooking the port and was the home to families of fishermen over the centuries. On the top of the hill stands the Church of Notre Dame de Bon Secours. Other historically important churches in Dieppe include the St Remy Church and the magnificent St Jacques Church, the streets behind which provide a glimpse of 17th century life.
The Castle Museum located in the ancient Dieppe Castle is known for its ivory sculptures, while out of town, the Arques la Bataille Castle and Miromesil Castle are worthwhile excursions.
The fishing port is famous for its fresh seafood, including scallops, herring, squid and sole. For families, the Cultural Center and Cite de la Mer Sea Museum provide a variety of interesting exhibits. The seafront area comes alive in the evening, with fine restaurants, cozy bars and quaint cafes, most notably the popular Café les Tribunaux.
Routes inland from Dieppe allow you to experience some of the most beautiful countryside in the Normandy region, including the picturesque river valleys of the Bresle, the Bethune, the Varenne, the Scie and the Saane.
Paris’ Charles De Gaulle International Airport is the closest airport with direct flights from other countries. From Paris, a variety of transportation options are available, including connections.
