Getting to Dallas
Despite the fact that Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is hardly a central hub, it is incredibly busy, with more than 1500 daily flights daily. Internationally it has a few Trans-Atlantic routes, but mostly flies to Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America. The bulk of its traffic is domestic. Its 16 miles northwest of Dallas and well serviced by taxi, limo and shuttle. Alternatively, Love Field is a regional airport 7 miles northwest of the city, which is much more convenient and less hassle if youre flying locally.
Amtrak rail service departs from Union Station, in Dallas' west end, with services no-stop to east and west coast destinations. It is serviced by Dallas DART public transportation system, with light-rail trains serving downtown Dallas and the outer districts.
Greyhound bus is an extensive network reaching all towns across the US, its cheap but the least comfortable means of travel, particularly over long distances.
Dallas is at the convergence of about a dozen major highways and easy to access from all points of the compass. Houston is south on the I-45; Austin and San Antonio are southwest on the I-35.
