The Czech Republic has a continental climate with warm wet summers and cold, snowy winters. Summers (June - September) in the Czech Republic are long, hot and rainy with temperatures reaching up into the high 20s or 30s. July tends to be the hottest month throughout the country. Winters (November March) are cold with lots of fog and snow. Temperatures drop to below freezing, even in low lying areas and in Prague temperatures can drop to -15 degrees. Temperatures in the mountains are bitterly cold at this time as they are covered in a thick blanket of snow. January tends to be the coldest month, however conditions are changeable. The country is blessed with continuous rainfall as there is no real dry season, with the summer months receiving heavy thunderstorms.
