Rent a Car Czech Republic - Geography Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is situated in Central Europe, southeast of Germany and is bordered by Austria, Germany, Poland and the Slovak Republic. The bulk of the country is made up of Bohemia and Moravia. Moravia makes up the eastern part of the country and Bohemia the west. The rest is now modern day Poland. The capital of both Czech Republic and Bohemia is Prague. The country has beautiful mountains and a very diverse landscape with highlands, mountains, caves, bogs, lakes and canyons.
The effects of industrialsation have polluted most of the north resulting terrible air pollution and acid rain. However, with centuries of clear-cutting, forests still manage to cover one-third of the country. The wildlife is thick in the grassy areas with lynxes, marmot, otters and minks. Many game birds also make their home in the woods and marshes; however, today they are still commonly hunted.
