Car Hire in Costa Brava - Getting to Costa Brava
Most people flying directly to the Costa Brava choose Barcelona as their initial point of entry. It is a big international and domestic destination, with direct flights from North America and many European cities. The airport is situated 9 miles southwest of the city centre at El Prat de Llobregat. Barceloa is the main transport hub for the Costa Brava.
The Rodalies train line runs between the airport and the centre of town ( 2.15 o/w every 30 minutes, 20 minute journey).
The Aerobús service runs from the airport to Plaça de Catalunya via Plaça d'Espanya. There is also no shortage of taxis available to/from the centre.
The main train station is Estació Sants, 1.6 miles west of La Rambla, with some trains also stopping at Catalunya station on Plaça de Catalunya. From here trains can be caught to all Spanish destinations and many European cities. Tickets are best organised through a local travel agent.
The main intercity bus station, Estació del Nord, is 1 mile northeast of La Rambla, close to Arc de Triomf metro, and serves all regional centres in Spain and most mainland European capitals. Local buses leave from here and several other points around the city to towns along the coast and inland.
Driving from Barcelona through the Costa Brava, the A7 coastal expressway provides the most scenic and direct route available.
