Car Rental Costa Del Sol - Exploring Costa Del Sol
The Costa del Sol attracts hundreds of thousands of European sun-seekers year after year, and as holiday villas are scattered all over the coast a car is quite necessary. Besides, there is so much to see, with plenty of beautiful beaches, and historic towns all along the coast. You may even want to venture further afield to escape the crowds!
East of Malaga is the little village of Nerja. This is a typical Andalusian village with its white houses and a beautiful view out to sea. Nerja is specially known for its 3000- year-old caves full of colossal stalactites.
Not too far away, Mijas is another interesting village to stop off at. It is located in the mountains west of Malaga, just after leaving the seaside in the direction of Torremolinos.
Also to the west of Malaga, along the coastline, you can find towns such as Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola, all of which are known for their beaches and laid back lifestyles.
Art from the Palaeolithic period is well preserved in some caves in the province, particularly the Cueva de la Pileta near Ronda and also the Cueva de Doña Trinidad near Ardales. The Cueva de Nerja is also well worth a visit because of its spectacular stalactites and stalagmites.
In the region of Antequera you will find two of the most important ancient monuments in Europe: the Dolmens of Viera and Menga. The mountainous region of Ronda also has monuments of significance, such as the funeral monuments of Gigantes and the necropolis of the Tardónen.
Further afield are the historically important cities of Granada, Cordoba and Seville.
