Costa Blanca

    Guide

Costa_BlancaThe Costa Blanca, or White Coast is recognised as one of the highlights of Spain. It is much more laid back than the many busier sunshine spots and is very suitable for a family orientated holiday. Its beaches and landscapes and the pleasant waters make it an ideal place for swimming and fishing. Its mild climate means sports like squash, tennis and golf can be practiced all year round. For exploring this stunning part of Spain we highly advise all travellers to opt for car hire in Costa Blanca. Book today in advance of travel to secure a car.

    Explore Costa Blanca

Engulfed by two of the largest lagoons in Europe, the 'Salterns of Torrevieja', is the cultural heart of the Costa Blanca, Torrevieja. This popular, vibrant town and sea port, located in the southern part of Valencia , is easily accessible and is close to both the provincial capital Alicante and San Javier (Murcia).

Torrevieja is a first class tourist centre. There are magnificent avenues, sandy beaches, esplanades, squares, gardens, parks and many protected nature reserves, which are recognised internationally as being of great ecological value tot he area.

In Torrevieja, the facilities and natural conditions for water sports are excellent. Particularly of note are the Real Club Nautico and the Puerto Deportivo Marina Internacional, in which there are more than 1500 high quality moorings. Surrounding Torrevieja there are five golf courses, where national and international championships are regularly held.

    Transport

    By air
The principal Costa Blanca airports are Alicante and Valencia. Valencia Airport is situated 5 miles from the city and Alicante's El Altet Airport is located approximately seven miles southwest of Alicante city centre. They both have international and domestic flights by both scheduled and charter services, connecting to all major Spanish and European destinations. Car rentals are available in the arrivals hall of both airports from leading rental companies Avis, Enterprise Atesa, Europcar and Hertz. Record Go, Centauro, Goldcar and Sixt can also be found at Alicante Airport.

    By land
There are two rail operators in the Costa Blanca the main one being RENFE, which runs a very efficient service with cheap fares; the other is FEVE who run the Costa Blanca Express. Tickets can be bought at train stations or through authorised travel agencies.

If you are planning to travel a lot by train then it’s worth purchasing a 'tourist pass'. A rail guide including fares can be obtained at any Spanish railway station.

There is no single national coach line. Tourist offices can give information on how to get to your destination. Local coach services can be booked and paid for in Spain, however, seat reservations should be made in advance. Coach stations are laid out according to the company, not the route

The Costa Blanca is served by the Mediterranean Motorway A7 (E15), which runs roughly north to south. It is a scenic drive for those wishing to take their time and explore the coast, as well as being the most direct route back to Northern Europe.

    By sea
Ferry services can be booked through any local travel agency. From Torrevieja travellers can take a ferry to visit Tabarca; the trip takes one and a half hours.
