Car Rental Costa Blanca - Exploring Costa Blanca
Driving along the coast, youll pass many beautiful towns, beaches and inlets and it is often a tough choice deciding where to stop and soak up the local culture. The road often abuts the shore, offering some lovely vistas.
Javea occupies a privileged stretch of coastline surrounded by valleys and terraced mountains covered with olive, orange, lemon and almond trees and, of course, vineyards which provide inexpensive local wines. The Medieval Old Town is a labyrinth of narrow streets and small plazas full of white house fronts decorated with wrought iron grills and balconies. It is dominated by the Gothic fortified church of San Bartolomé, a listed National Artistic Monument which dates back to the 15th century.
Further along the coast is the village of Jalon. This quaint village is centred around the Old Square, where the locals give the impression nothings changed in 50 years. Seen from the square is the famous Jalon Church with its striking blue dome. The Rastro (Boot Sale) in Jalon has become very popular and offers a curious day out.
Jalon is also famous for its wines and there are several bodegas, or wine cellars, in which to sample the local wares.
