Car Rental Cork - Exploring Cork
One of Irelands biggest tourist draw cards is the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle, half an hours drive outside the city. Kissing the famous stone these days is likely to give you something less desirable than luck! More rewarding is an historic tour of Cobh, a beautifully preserved historic port town. Strolling the windy lanes is sure to delight. If the weathers good, consider travelling slightly further to the lovely seaside town of Kinsale, site of the 17th century Charles Fort, and also popular with sailing enthusiasts.
Waterford, only a two-hour drive away has a decidedly medieval feel with city walls, narrow alleyways and a Norman tower. Waterford is first and foremost a busy commercial port city, situated on the River Suir. The famous Waterford crystal is created 2kms out of town at the firm's factory.
County Kerry (southwest) is a few hours drive away. The lively tourist town of Killarney is an ideal base for exploring Lough Leane and the breath-taking scenery at Muckross house, Kenmare castle and Ladies view. A compulsory day-trip is the three-hour coastal drive around the Ring of Kerry with its spectacular scenery, or a detour to the quieter Dingle peninsula and its delightful little fishing town.
