Car Hire in Copenhagen - Getting to Copenhagen
Copenhagens International Airport is reasonably busy though hardly a European hub. Being so close to the rest of Scandinavia, it handles much of the regions long-haul traffic, with regular trans-Atlantic flight and routes to select Asian-Pacific destinations. However, many find it cheaper to fly to Amsterdam and catch the train and Europeans (particularly from London) often fly to Malmo in Sweden (a mere 30 minutes away by train) as a cheaper alternative. The Airport is 9kms southwest of the city, and regular trains will have you in the centre within 15 minutes. Connections are made to Billund, Esbjerg and Rønne, the rest of Denmark being too small to justify flying.
The Øresundsfordindelsen (Øresund Fixed Link) linked Scandanavia with Europe after the tunnels completion in 2000, and Malmo is now less than 30 minutes by car or train. Buses run frequently from the central station non-stop to destinations throughout Europe and Scandinavia.
The road network is well established despite the many waterways and islands, making it easy to drive from Zeeland to Funen and Jutland and onwards to Germany and the rest of Europe. Traffic isnt too bad, and driving is safe.
North and south of Zeeland, short ferries run from Helsingør to Helsingborg (Sweden) and Rødbyhavn to Puttgarden in Germany.
