Car Hire in Columbus - Getting to Columbus
Port Columbus International Airport is situated approximately 15 minutes driving time east of Columbus city centre. A large number of airlines serve Port Columbus, with 350 arrivals and departures daily serving 35 destinations non-stop, and hundreds of additional cities on a direct or connecting basis.
Taxis and shuttle services provide transport into town, with taxis charging about US$15 for a one-way trip. Shuttle buses are a more affordable way of reaching Columbus central, though not as convenient. They leave from outside the airport building every 30 minutes.
Columbus is easily reached by car via I-70 and I-71, which cut across the city. I-270 loops around the city, and is a good alternative route to use when driving to outlying areas in order to avoid traffic congestion. It is useful to have a car while staying in the city as the public transport is unimpressive.
Greyhound buses serve destinations within the state and nationwide, providing an extensive and efficient network that connects almost every town and city in the US.
