The city of Cleveland in Ohio has become a stunning example of what will can do. Built up originally as an industrial powerhouse, this city has now been reborn as an ultra-modern and hip metropolis. The warehouses on Lake Eire, once filled with steel to be shipped on the lake, are now home to trendy coffee shops, nightclubs and discos.

This city is now a cultural Mecca with such treasures as the internationally regarded Cleveland Museum of Art that features modern and postmodern work. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History contains a fascinating array of fossils and geological specimens with a special emphasis on prehistoric Ohio. And the Great Lakes Science Center has a state-of-the-art OMNIMAX 360-degree theatre showing larger than life features.

The city also hosts the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Beyond the animals, this zoo’s main attraction is its simulated biosphere complete with a virtual rainstorm! Cleveland is famously the home of the America’s Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, it was in this town that 50s DJ Alan Freeman coined the phrase ‘Rock n Roll’.

One of Cleveland’s secrets is its extensive and exciting nightlife. From the Odeon Club which hosts internationally known stars to Velvet Dog and its high-style dance club with an excellent martini bar and retro-hip DJs. For those with a funny bone there are the comedy clubs Second City and the Improv Comedy Club.

For a romantic night out try a cruise on the Nautica Queen. This beautiful ship offers lunch, brunch and specializes in dinner cruises. Cruises depart from the Nautica Entertainment Complex on the west bank of the Flats. Book ahead, as these hugely popular cruises regularly sell out in advance.
