Mini guide to Cherbourg Airport
Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport
Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport is a French regional airport located in Normandy, roughly seven miles east of the port city of Cherbourg-Octeville. This regional airport services medium-haul flights to nearby destinations in Jersey, France and sometimes Cyprus.
The small airport, operated by the Cherbourg-Cotentin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, offers regular scheduled flights to Paris Orly (France) and Jersey (Channel Islands), as well as seasonal charter flights to Lourdes (France) and Cyprus. Annually, close to 40,000 passengers utilise this regional airport, with most passengers flying the Cherbourg-Paris route.
Twin Jet is currently the sole airline operating out of the airport and it flies twice daily on the Paris-Jersey route, stopping at Cherbourg Maupertus Airport en route. Twin Jet considers this airport to be one of its five hub airports.
Formerly a NATO airbase, facilities are limited at the airport. Currently, there is only one restaurant at the airport. More services may be added in the future, if passenger traffic increases.
Due to the regional nature of the airport, there is no public transportation from the airport into Cherbourg. Therefore, the best way of getting to and from the airport is by taxi or hire car, with the journey taking about 15 minutes.
The main car hire company that is available at Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport is Sixt. We offer cheap car hire on behalf of this company, which can be conveniently booked in advance online at a discount.
