The Cedar Rapids Airport (now known as the Eastern Iowa Airport) is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is a commercial airport that serves the surrounding communities in eastern Iowa. The airport is located along Wright Brothers Boulevard, named after the famous Cedar Rapids natives.
The airport serves mostly regional jets and provides some major airline flights to some nonstop destinations throughout the country.
All of the services that the airport provides occurs in the pre-security areas, except for one gift shop and snack bar that is located in the boarding area. Outside of the security area, there is the Sam Adams Brewhouse that serves snacks, a deli, and a Pizza Hut express. There is also a small coffee shop and a gift shop. The Cedar Rapids Airport began as an airport located in Hunter Field. This was a private airport at first and was established by Dan Hunter circa 1920. It was used for private charter service, airmail, and pilot training. The reason a new airport was built was because this particular airport was not able to function in bad weather. Once the new airport was built, it was able to better serve the region of Cedar Rapids.
